Hello honey bunnies! How are you? How have you been keeping up with the pandemic? It’s been a while since I last posted and I am so sorry about that. I have been going through a whole lot lately, trying to process a lot and today I will be talking about challenges and why they are important. But before that, I am happy to let you know I made the move from blogger to WordPress. It wasn’t easy lol. It took me days to move, import my content, fix broken links and all. I was busy with moving and everything that comes with it and that’s why I haven’t posted in a while. It was quite stressful but I’m glad I made the move.

importance of challenges

A challenge is something that puts you to the test. Everyone has been through one challenge or the other but are challenges bad? Should you see them as a setback or a stepping stone? For me, challenges are not bad, they are good. They bring out the best in you. The myth of a life without challenges is false and no matter how rosy life is, there will always be challenges.

A life without obstacles may seem amazing but I have come to realize that challenges are inevitable and are also necessary if we want to become the best version of ourselves. Challenges bring out the best in you. They make you stronger. They push you to be the best version of yourself. Challenges are not a death sentence. They will only make you stronger and better. Here are some importance of the aforementioned.

IMPORTANCE OF CHALLENGES

1) Challenges build our strength and belief in ourselves

So many of us doubt our capabilities and underestimate ourselves but challenges remind us that we are stronger than we know/think we are. Challenges make us do things we never thought we could do. They make us wiser, more willing to take risks, confident in our abilities. They make us an overall better person and they build our resilience too.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice – Bob Marley

2) They help us appreciate the little things

Most times, we take the little things for granted, we throw the term gratitude away but challenges help bring back the attitude of gratitude. Take a look at the pandemic for instance. Before the pandemic, we used to see being able to go out as a no-brainer but right now, in the middle of the pandemic, with our butts stuck in our homes, a lot of us have started to appreciate being able to go out. Most times, we don’t really appreciate what we have until we lose it but challenges open our eyes to the little things that really matter which we take for granted.

3) They remind you of the fact that you are human

So many of us feel like we are gods and goddesses who can’t make mistakes or don’t have any weaknesses until a challenge comes by. Challenges remind us of the fact that we are humans, we have weaknesses and limitations. They remind us that there is still a lot more to be learnt and they help reduce our ego.

If everything were perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow – Beyoncé

4) Challenges make you value your achievements even more

When you cross hurdles to achieve a particular thing, you appreciate your achievements way more than you would appreciate it if you had everything on a platter of gold. Some accomplishments wouldn’t be as valued as they are if they were less challenging. Imagine, I was hungry and someone walked up to me and handed me a plate of food. Of course, I would appreciate it but I would definitely value it more if I had to struggle and go through some difficulties to get that food. Challenges make your accomplishments more worth it!

Challenges won’t destroy you. They’ll make you better. Challenges though tough, could make you cry, feel sad are an incredible necessity for becoming the best version of yourself. If we look back and reflect on our lives, we will realize that the challenges rather than the joyful moments shaped us into the person we are today. Always see challenges as a stepping stone, a learning experience and a mind builder. They are placed in our lives to help us grow and I feel like the universe will never test us with a challenge we can’t overcome. Whatever challenge you have faced or are facing was given to you because you are capable of overcoming it. It is 100% okay for challenges to come your way!

Every challenge you face today makes you stronger tomorrow. The challenge of life is intended to make you better, not bitter. – Roy T. Bennett

I really hope this post has changed your perspective about challenges. Are challenges a stepping stone or a setback to you?

  3. Aw great post! I agree that challenges are an important part of life. I recently started a new job and at first I almost wanted to quit I felt so lost- but now I know exactly what I’m doing (most of the time!) and I’m glad I took on the challenge 🙂 thank you for sharing x

  4. This post was such a great read and very motivating! I completely agree that they show you strength and your capabilities and also let you appreciate better the small thing and what surrounds you. I am so glad I challenged myself last year to write more without fearing other’s judgment. Thank you for sharing x

  5. There are days where getting through my day is a challenge…and then there is my three year long journey to run a marathon in under five hours.

I was a super-smart child (like Mensa) in a tiny country school. Teachers kept telling me that I had the power to do anything, and while I struggled socially and with then-undiagnosed OCD, the things that predicted success at that age were so easy. I look at my classmates who had a tougher time with admiration of how they’ve taken those early challenges to Great success…while I’m barely staying afloat. I’ve spent way too much time in my life starting something, then either quitting once the journey gets too hard or failing miserably. So I’m trying to break through that wall, keep picking myself up after each failure, keep grinding when it’s not fun or easy. Until I figure this one out, I won’t reach my dreams.

  6. Wonderful post! I agree, challenges are an absolute necessity if we are to move forward in our lives. Without them we become stagnant. Of course it took me many, many years to learn that and I still struggle with it. You are definitely wise beyond your years. Thank you for sharing your perspective on challenges. I look forward to hearing more from you now that you have finished moving your site!

  7. I love this! I am a firm believer that challenges push us out of our comfort zone, allowing us to discover what we’re really capable of. If we avoid anything that feels uncomfortable or ‘out of the norm’, we’ll never learn just how powerful and talented we are. Not every challenge will work out the way we would like, but they always give us the opportunity to learn and grow (even through our failures)!

  8. « Challenges make you value your achievements even more » exactly ! Thanks to challenges I learned how to appreciate my achievements even more, even the little ones like going out or call a friend. Great post keep it up👍🏾

  9. I hope you’ll be happy with your new WP blog! I moved mine from blogger as well but luckily it was new and didn’t have too much content to move. I can image the headache! Your post is really interesting though. I love to challenge myself! Thanks for sharing ♥

  11. Agreed. Challenges are what help us to grow as people.

  12. A really insightful and interesting read. For me, I used to hate challenges as more often than not, I wasn’t able to achieve them and would end up feeling back about myself. However, I think that was because I was always too ambitious when setting challenges for myself. But you’re right; challenges help us appreciate our achievements and the little things and help us grow so much!

  13. Great post! I’m someone who, even though I love when things are easy, accomplishing or getting through a challenge is also really important to me. Even if I get annoyed or frustrated at first, working my way through a challenge is a great feeling. Thanks for sharing!
