Today I’ll be talking about the topic are you putting in your best? But just before I get started, let me give you a little update. So yea… June was meant to be a promising month for my blog. I remember being super hyper about how there were a lot of great things in store for the blog in June. But unfortunately, I was able to post just twice in June (way below my goal of 7 posts every month). Life got in the way lol. My schedule for June was thwarted. And I ended up putting my blog on hold for the umpteenth time in the last two months.

I have been feeling some kinda way lately. About a week or two ago, I was opportune to meet and interact with some people. A lot of them motivated me but one that really stood out to me was a student like myself that seemed to have achieved a lot. Getting to interact and have conversations with that person made me realize that I have not been doing enough. I realized that I have been so unproductive and I have been wasting a lot of my time on things that wouldn’t benefit me.
It is necessary to make progress
Sometimes, we live our lives so carefree and extra comfortable with the position we are in at a particular time. And as a result, we forget that we have a destination and a place we are going to. While it is completely okay to be comfortable with where we are, we shouldn’t stay stuck at a place. Progress is 100% a necessity and living in the glory of the past is completely useless.

The past few weeks have been life changing for me. Everything that has happened in the last few weeks has changed my perspective, broadened my horizon. And most importantly, made me believe that we can change the narrative irrespective of the circumstance, your background and where you come from. My life has been forever changed and positively impacted.

This is the most amazing experience I have ever had and I am entirely grateful for the opportunity. I won’t forget this experience in a hurry. And it would be completely senseless of me to not make changes. I have been very restless these past few days. I have been so disturbed that I haven’t been living to the best of my potentials. And that I have been wasting a lot of my time doing things that wouldn’t benefit me but with the help of God, I’ll do away with every irrelevant thing that could be hindering me from being in my best form.

Are you putting in your best?
I have not been thinking less of myself but I have been motivated to do more and make each second count. I have only one thing to do wherever I go and that is to be a light that shines so bright. By God’s grace, I want to do well, impact lives and get myself to a point where I’ll be super proud of me.
It’s okay to be okay with who you are, what you are and where you are but it’s wrong to not aim to be better than you were yesterday. Take things at your own pace and never let what you see make you feel like you are not doing enough. Just put in your best and you’ll see yourself soaring.
Roundup
In conclusion, growth is important. Ask yourself if you are putting in your best? If you are not. The time is NOW! It is time to wake up and get things done. Who knows tomorrow may be too late and the opportunity you have now might be gone tomorrow. This is a gentle reminder that time lost can never be regained and whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. Do your best to make your life an enviable one. One in which people would look at and be motivated and pushed to put in their best.
This was a good reminder to check in with yourself every now and then and re-evaluate your goals. It is true that we often stray and stop doing our best, but the good news is that with some self-reflection we can always get back on the right path again.
I took an unexpected hiatus from blogging for 8 months in 2020 and then again for a couple of months this year. At first, it frustrated me and made me feel like I wasn’t doing my best, but when I sat down and thought about it, not being as productive as I had hoped/assumed I could/should be was my best. It’s the best thing I could do given the circumstances I was working through. Our best has to be flexible, and open to change and I really like that you said not to think less of ourselves and to go at our own pace. We usually get where we need to go in the end.
You’re so right about the importance of making progress. It’s easy to get too comfortable and become stuck in a rut. Sometimes you can’t move forward in life until you get out of that comfort zone. Thanks so much for sharing!
Taking a break is sometimes a really good thing, it allows us to step back and work out what we really want, which is then what we focus on to put in our best. Fab post, Ruth, a really encouraging read, thank you!
I took a hiatus over the holiday season to think about my goals and aspirations, and I’m really happy that I did. Sometimes taking a break is needed to become a better version of ourselves.
Thank you so much for sharing! Taking a break is very much needed. I’ve taken so many breaks in my blogging time and I’ve felt much more refreshed afterwards. Breaks give me time to think about what I need to do differently to be as productive as possible! Great post!
Great post! Making progress is so important – it can be so easy to get too secure and comfortable with where we are and sometimes we just end up holding ourselves back. Thanks for sharing!
This is such an incredible post my lovely. It has really helped me to assess what I want and where I want to be in my life!
This was a beautiful and motivating post. Everyday I try to find something new to learn, something that will make me a better version of myself. But most of the people I know see no meaning in this. Either they are already pleased with themselves or they just don’t care. Anyway I believe that for all of us there is always room for improvement. Thank you for sharing this!
Taking a break is so important. I’ve just relaunched my blog after taking a break for nearly a year. Life happened and I wasn’t giving it my best – but now I’m back and feel refreshed. Best thing ever to take a step back.
Love your reminder to put in my all. I have been carrying that intention with me for a while now, but sometimes find myself slipping a little. A break is often just what I need to recharge and bring fresh energy to the table.
Thanks for sharing!
I like to think I am : ) and yes taking a break is key. We all need to recharge! A big time waster for a lot of people is social media. So many people waste a good amount of their time scrolling through social media which is not very good.

It’s a necessary part of our journey to do inward reflection every now and then just so we can assess if we are truly happy and content with our lives and if not, to know that we can always do something to change that. Thanks for this reminder!

This is such a raw and honest post. It has really made me think about what direction I want to go in and to re-evaluate my goals too.
Love the idea behind this, I’ve started putting my best foot forward over the last few months and have really seen a difference!

Great post, I love how reflective it makes you as a reader. I always find there’s room for improvement, so this is a lovely motivating read to push me to do my best! It’s nice to hear about your experiences too, very inspiring 🙂
I felt the same way in June, life got on top of me and I needed to take a blogging break for a little while. I’m feeling much more positive now and I’m looking forward to creating content again x
Taking a break is definitely well needed once in a while and I love the fact that you talked about how important growth is. This is so true! x

It’s fantastic that you were feeling so inspired just by being around other people. Sometimes friends can be the greatest motivators. I know that sometimes when I’m around others, I have similar feelings! Right now, I feel like I’m certainly doing my best in a lot of ways, but I’m sure there’s always room to improve. Thanks for the encouragement!
Thanks for speaking about the importance of making progress, celebrating our progress, and taking time away from things even if we love them! Recently, I’ve been trying to make more time to celebrate my progress!
Such a great reminder for growth! I think My answer would be yes to this question. Now, I am trying things out of my comfort zone. Sometimes things get hard but when I take a break and look back at my progressive journey then I think it’s worth it. But as you said there is always room for improvement 🙂

Great post! Thank you for sharing this! I totally agree with you about making progress! I am definitely going to try and put in my best because it’s important!
Checking in with your goals is so important. Even though I had a productive month, I found myself completely avoiding my blog and blog work on some days. Taking a break, or just time to do other things is so important, especially when you are unmotivated.

It’s crucial to take breaks from time to time. I really enjoyed reading through this – growth is so important xx
This is a really handy post! It’s so important to check in on your goals. I totally agree with you about making progress. xo
Great post! I agree that being a light that shines bright is our one and only job. Thanks for this beautiful reminder!
I feel this! For a while I felt so down with my business account and other blog. It really demotivated me so I had to check in with myself and re-evaluate my goals and dreams. I think once you get to a point where you reflect and take time to really check in with yourself, it can make all the difference. This is such a great post and reminder to just go for it!
I think sometimes I’m genuinely too busy but other times I’m not committed enough and I just take the easy way out. So, this was a nice reminder to put in my best.
A beautiful, positive and encouraging post! It is important to sometimes take a step back and think are we being our best? And to make that change if not. Thank you for sharing xx
Right now, I’m trying my best to get out of my comfort zone! Thank you for writing this. So helpful and a gentle reminder to myself. I also agree, that the time is now and one should be bold to live the life we’ve always imagined. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us x
I love this post and it’s such a good point. We should always be striving to progress in whatever it is we’re doing. Sometimes we need to just take a step back, take stock and ask ourselves if we’re happy with how things are or if things could be better.
Such a great reminder to step back and realign with your goals. I completely agree that progress is needed and that even if comfortable in our position, we need to strive to achieve what we want now! So glad you feel inspired by the people in your life! Loved reading this x
This is such a good question to think about. I constantly think, am I doing my best? Am I enjoying what I am doing in life? Every time I try my best and if things don’t seem to be going well, I take a short break. It’s good to know when to take a break.
Ruth! It’s true, when we are happy with where we are, we sometimes forget about making progress and reaching our destination. But in the end, do we ever have one destination? There’s always some progress to be achieved. So I just consider that I’m better than where I was a couple months back and aim to be somewhere better two months later.
This is such a positive, inspiring and honest post – thank you for sharing, Ruth! Blogging is a time-consuming thing and to do it around other activities like study, work, family responsibilities, etc, can be really tough. I think one of the things that’s helped me is to write down my motivations for blogging and keep that piece of paper on my desk where I can see it.
Such a powerful post. Thanks for the reminder. I needed to hear these words. Giving our all is a necessity because we have a goal to achieve <3 Thank you 🙂

What a positive, impactful experience you had with this other person. I love that type of experience – one that is motivating and allows you to view the world a little differently. Thanks for sharing your experience Ruth!
Well done, Ruthie! May God help us to do the things we ought to do.
